GIGA MEGA ENORMOUS BLOG! Kulgera, Uluru, King's Canyon, Alice Springs, Mataranka, & Katherine.
Kulgera
Kulgera is another stop-off between Coober Pedy and Uluru, like all the other stop-offs, there isn't much to say her, EXCEPT for the fact that the pub's roof and walls were covered in bras and underwear... yeah.
Uluru
Uluru? What's Uluru? I'm kidding. It's very famous, for a reason that I soon realised. You see, I though Uluru was the height of three mansions stacked on top of each other, but I was way off! Uluru is massive! It's almost the size of this blog, if this blog was titled; massive, enormous, gigantic, monumental, & big.
One thing that was really fun was the Segway tour around Uluru. A Segway is one of those things that you master quickly and don't want to get off of, but that's not what the tour was about. As we looped around the rock, our guide pointed out evidence of the Dream Creatures.
Basically, the Aboriginals believed that Uluru was formed when the world was featureless, nothing to see. The Dream Creatures became Uluru because of many different reasons. On the rock you can spot snake trails, smiles, wounds, knees, frowns, and other visible features acting as evidence.
King's Canyon
We only stayed two days at King's Canyon but at the time we wished we stayed longer. The campground was really well kept and was toilet city, which I'll explain in a second. We did the challenging rim walk around the canyon and it had many spots where we would be standing less than a metre from death. Nice. So about the toilet city, in this campground, you don't need to walk more than 20 metres from an amenities block before you bump into another one. Seriously, you can count about 7 toilet blocks from the entrance.
Alice Springs
Alice is where it began to feel warmer, which was appreciated. Now here's something funny for you, Alice Springs isn't actually a spring! It was named a literal pond, also, 'Alice' the person that the location was named after, has never actually been there! Great naming, I say.
Devils Marbles
Mataranka
So far, Mataranka is easily, no doubt, my favourite spot, and now the trip really feels tropical. Palm trees, hot springs, warm day and night, and back home everyone's freezing. Oh yeah! Mataranka had two thermal springs to offer, one that was conveniently placed next to our campsite (Mataranka) and one that acted as a lazy river (Bitter Springs) which you could float down for 17 mins. I don't have a favourite, they're both lovely.
